Snapchat “Stories Everywhere” is more than just a catchy slogan — it’s a movement. The disappearing stories app is reportedly going to great lengths to entice potential new users and counter stagnant user growth by introducing Snapchat Stories, literally everywhere.
The new “Stories Everywhere” initiative will make it easier to share videos directly from the app onto other websites and apps, according to an exclusive report via Cheddar. With this change, Snapchat hopes to connect its users through concerts, sporting events, breaking news and other types of video content in way more places than just the app. The idea is to attract even more users in the process.
Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc., has hired Rahul Chopra (News Corp, Storyful) to head up the new project, which will push feeds of user-generated videos beyond where they have gone before. Think of it as a Discover feed, but consistently found across the internet, not just on Snapchat.
Looking ahead to 2018, Snapchat sill has its sights set on a brand new redesign expected to make the app more user friendly. According to Cheddar, Chopra’s goals include increasing the overall output of content in the Discover feed, widening content distribution across other platforms, and doubling-down on news.
Does this mean Snapchat Stories will stick around for more than 24 hours? It’s unlikely, but there will be plenty more opportunities for screen grabs from more than just Snapchat’s users. One thing is for sure — Snapchat as we know it is about to change forever.
