Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper In Nearly 20 Years to Hit #1 without Any Collaborators

Money moves aren’t the only moves she’s making… Cardi B just became the first female rapper to solely rule the Billboard Hot 100 since 1998 and it’s about damn time!

“Bodak Yellow,” dethrones Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” atop the latest chart — no easy feat to accomplish considering the pop artist’s star power and loyal following coined as Swifties. Now sitting at #2 is Post Malone‘s “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage, which bumped Tay Tay down yet another notch to #3.

All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 26) to reflect these changes.

Cardi B’s rise to the top is well deserved. It’s impossible to ignore her ruthless tone and impressive wordplay, not to mention Louboutins will now forever be referred to as “bloody shoes” thanks to this bad B. Not only has the original gained massive success, but “Bodak Yellow” is one of the hottest tracks for remixing (listen to the 5 best we’ve heard here).

This is a huge accomplishment for females in music, as Lauryn Hill was the last female rapper to own the chart without any additional credited artists nearly 20 years ago. Congrats, Cardi B!
