Well, I definitely didn’t see this one coming. The MTV EMAs are going down right now and, despite heavy competition with the likes of fellow nominees Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris and Major Lazer, somehow David Guetta has pulled away with the win.

Although his Justin Bieber collab “2U” is his second most streamed song ever, next to the undeniable anthem “Titanium,” it had little to no impact in the actual electronic dance music scene – which leaves me scratching my head as to how he won this award.
With Martin Garrix winning last year, I would expect The Chainsmokers or Calvin Harris to come out on top for 2017 as they each have an album to their credit since then. Instead, the most tired name in EDM at the ripe old age of 50 has taken it and singlehandedly dissolved any semblance of meaning the award held to its name.
*sigh*
Here’s the song that won it for him, anyway.
