London Police Called To Break Up Illegal Rave At Abandoned Toys R Us

Five individuals were arrested over Easter weekend in Hounslow, a suburb of London, when hundreds of people took over an abandoned Toys R Us for an illegal rave.

The rave, which Hounslow Police called an “unlicensed music event” on Twitter, was held at the closed down Toys R Us following the corporation’s massive closing out sales led to the store being cleared out.

Police were called to the location whereupon five people were arrested and a soundsystem was seized.

As a child of the ’90s, Toys R Us became synonymous with new toys and fun times. The store has faced declining sales and popularity with the advent of online downloads for games as well as shorter shipping times via online retailers like Amazon. It makes sense that as the store closes, the kids who once considered it home would one last time congregate within and give it a proper send off.
