Regardless of where you’re from, this is bittersweet news for the music world, as Webster Hall “as we know it” makes plans to shut down this August.
The historic venue nestled in East Village of Manhattan in NYC has been a signature concert stop for many touring artists, and a necessary pit stop for any music fan visiting the city. In these final months, electronic acts like Bro Safari, Brillz, Feed Me, and Graves will take the stage, as well as those with final gigs including Rag N Bone Man, Michelle Branch, Good Charlotte, and more — but the remaining GOTHAM nights will most notably go down as the last epic dance parties at Webster Hall!
GM Gerard McNamee posted the following on social media (full statement below): “Sad but true, the legendary and world-famous Webster Hall has been sold and will close as we know it for its final club night on Saturday August 5th, 2017, which just so happens to be my birthday, which is certainly somehow apropos.”
He also urged dance fans: “There are only 12 club nights left. Please come celebrate our rich 25 year history of being the biggest, baddest and longest running nightclub in the history of New York City.”
The new venue will then take on new ownership by “Barclays/AEG/Bowery Presents.”
