Believe it or not, Mija has never before released an EP. Yeah… let that sink in. (According to her team, time stops is technically a “soundtrack” for a project that hasn’t yet been released.)
She’s just announced her upcoming debut EP, How To Measure The Distance Between Lovers, with the release of a new song with Kelli Schaefer called “Bad For U.” The song was produced by Mija with lyrics & vocals written by Portland DIY artist Kelli Schaefer.
“Bad For U” is unlike anything that Mija has ever done before, and she’s been hinting as much in her tweets and posts about her upcoming work. With a heavy dose of autotune and a delicate production touch, the track comes across as more indie influenced than ever. With comparisons to Oneohtrix Point Never, Burial, and Björk, “Bad For U” is a stunning look at the soundscape of her upcoming EP.
“This EP is a collection of songs that I’ve written to my past/present/future lovers, and flows chronologically through a timeline,” Mija wrote. “I wrote them so I could find myself, finish this chapter of my life, and set the rest on fire.”
