The Chainsmokers‘ already huge week just keeps getting better!
First up, The Chainsmokers closed out night 2 of Ultra Music Festival‘s 20th anniversary event as Main Stage headliners. The hype surrounding their performance must have boosted streaming numbers, because in the following days, The Chainsmokers became the third act on Spotify to reach 1 billion streams on more than one song.
With this, the Grammy award-winning tune “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya became the The Chainsmokers’ second release to hit the 1 billion stream milestone. TCS, comprised of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, originally joined Spotify’s billion-stream club with “Closer” featuring Halsey.
Interestingly enough, “Don’t Let Me Down” also joined the billion play club on YouTube this week as well.
As far as Spotify goes, The Chainsmokers are right up there with other mainstream hitmakers Ed Sheeran (“Shape of You” and “Thinking Out Loud”) and Justin Bieber (“Sorry” and “Despacito”).
It seems as though Major Lazer will be the next to join the two singles club on Spotify, having originally hit one billion streams for their hit “Lean On” with DJ Snake featuring MØ; “Cold Water” with Justin Bieber & MØ is hot on its heels. The Chainsmokers’ collaboration with Coldplay, “Something Just Like This,” is sure to hit the mark in due time as well.
