At just 22 years old, Post Malone already has plenty of hits to his name. He broke through in 2015 with the hit “White Iverson,” and is nearing one billion Spotify streams on his latest hit “rockstar.” His tracks are ubiquitous to the dance music scene, when they’re played during just about ever main stage set. His flow and style is unmistakable, and that might actually come as a bit of a detriment in his sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys.
The 18-track album only spawned three singles before its release: “Psycho,” “Candy Paint,” and “rockstar.” Many of the hip hop tracks suffer from the same monotony that was found in his debut album, Stoney. Still, tracks like “Stay” prove Malone’s songwriting abilities extend far beyond just the monotonous drone of his typical melodies.
Tracks like “Same Bitches” also present more mature production and ways to set itself apart from the rest of the album, especially with features from G-Eazy and YG on the deck.
Overall, it’s easy to lose yourself in the 64-minute album and get to the end without realizing it; each track seems to pretty easily flow into the next. And plenty of these tracks will undoubtedly end up getting bootleg remixes, so be on the lookout for those during this festival season. Check out Post Malone’s new album below.
