Yesterday, progressive house icon, legendary record producer and two-time Grammy nominee Bill Hamel passed away – cause of death has yet to be publicly confirmed – but the news broke via the official Facebook page of Fatum, the progressive house act of which Hamel was a founding member.
In addition to his work as a producer and his artist career with Fatum, Hamel was also the founder of Sunkissed Records. Hamel also remixed some of the biggest names in pop-music including Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and more while also landing himself two Grammy nominations. His first nod came in 2003 for his remix of Seal’s “Get It Together” which landed him a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. He followed that up with another nomination in 2015 in the same category for Fatum’s remix of “Hold On” by JES, Shant & Clint Maximus.
