As Marshmello’s integration into pop becomes more secure day by day, his new productions are reflecting his shift. Today, his collaboration with Bastille, “Happier,” is released.
Ultimately, the production from Marshmello is able to bring out the best of lead vocalist Dan Smith’s voice, whose warm tones are supported by a fun and poppy vibe. There’s no doubt that this song will hit the Billboard Hot 100 as well as radio and we don’t really mind.
Your EDM has been vocal about our opinions on some of Marshmello’s less than stellar (in our opinion) tracks, but “Happier” is well produced and fun through and through. Though it’s not super high on the EDM spectrum, we don’t see a collaboration like that sounding nearly as good anyhow.
“Happier” by Marshmello and Bastille is out now. Check it out below.
