Before the Miami City Council voted to approve Ultra Music Festival’s proposal for a festival in Virginia Key, the site was scheduled to be used that same weekend by Rapture Electronic Music Festival. Now, the week after the deciding vote, Rapture says its excited for the future.
“They say that everything happens for a reason, and we now understand that more than ever,” Rapture wrote on social media. “Our search for a new location that will allow our original vision to continue has yielded us several amazing locations that we can honestly say are much better than our original home. We are doing this one for you, our fans; and want you to rest assure that nothing will stop Rapture 2019.”
Whether Rapture’s comment about amazing locations being “better than our original home [Virginia Key]” is a dig at Ultra or just a benign statement is up for interpretation. What isn’t up for interpretation is that Rapture is clearly looking to the future and not letting last week’s vote kill their vibe.
By all indications, Rapture 2019 is still a go. But, organizers will have to move quick if they want to keep that original March 2019 festival date. Last year’s festival featured headliners Luciano, Guy Gerber, Chris Liebing, Eelke Kleijn, and more.
