Fyre Festival was supposed to be the most insane festival the world had ever seen. And in a way… it succeeded. Just not in the way anyone had hoped. The brainchild of Ja Rule and Billy McFarland became one of the most-talked about events of 2017 for all the wrong reasons.
Now, a new documentary from Netflix, FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, attempts to shine a light on the festival from a never-before seen angle behind the scenes with real captured footage.
“Powerful models built this festival,” says one of the interviewees. “And then one picture of cheese on toast ripped down the festival.”
The documentary compiles footage from the festivals, behind the scenes footage of McFarland, as well as new commentary footage from those involved. It’s out globally on Netflix on January 18, 2019.
