REPORT: Ariana Grande Drops Out Of Grammy Awards Performance

“thank u, next” — Ariana Grande has reportedly dropped out of the 2019 Grammy Awards. She was set to perform at the 61st annual ceremony, the biggest night in music. But, it’s Ariana’s way or the highway.

According to sources, she felt “insulted” when the producers of the show didn’t agree with her song selection. Reports say Ari was all about performing her latest single “7 Rings,” but the Grammys was not. Later, they agreed to a medley which included the pop star’s smash song “thank u, next.” Still, they couldn’t reach an agreement.

This isn’t the first time the Grammys has been slammed for failing to give artists creative control. Last year, Lorde pulled the plug on her performance when she wasn’t able to sing her own song during the ceremony. Producers wanted her to be part of a Tom Petty tribute instead. Mind you, she was nominated for Album of the Year for her work on Melodrama. She described the whole ordeal as a “slap in the face.”

Thankfully, this year’s show won’t be a total bust. Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson (and Miley Cyrus?), Camila Cabello and more are all expected to perform live. Post Malone will take the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and country legend Dolly Parton will share a tribute with her talented friends.

Ariana Grande is still set to headline Coachella this year. So, she’s good.
