Ultra Reveals “Mission: Home” Environmental Policy

Part of the agreement Ultra made when the Miami City Council voted to approve the move to Virginia Key was to care about the environment. The wildlife around Virginia Key is very sensitive, especially to loud sounds and bright lights.

In a new post, Ultra spells out “Mission: Home,” its plan for treating the environment on Virginia Key with the respect it deserves. One of the biggest points it makes is to leave no trace, an adage espoused by many festivals, though more should follow suit. Ultra boils the tenent down to five basic main points:

  • don’t litter,
  • respect the natural environment (don’t climb on trees),
  • properly dispose of recycling and refuse in the appropriate bins,
  • be aware of your group’s trash,
  • and respect the barriers and fencing.

Additionally, Ultra will be doing their own part. There will be no confetti or streamers, nor single-use plastic cups or plastic straws, used at the festival. Fireworks will also be replaced by “close-proximity pyrotechnic alternatives” so as to keep the surrounding area free from debris. And most importantly, restoring the grounds back to their original condition.
