Zoom Theatre of The Absurd presents Empathy Corps (Earth Mana Planted Around Tree House Yeast), A Dark Comedy by Janice Blaze Rocke and The Eclectic Collective (co-writers include Jane Press, Bethanie Baeyen, and Nina Solamita. Directed by Bethanie Baeyen Dr. Ama Queen, narcissist executive director of the NGO Empathy Corps, and her enabling assistant Lena Onmi learn from spoiled Zoey Snivel (via a Zoom meeting) that his philanthropic grandmother has died. Zoey and his mumsy have decided to drastically cut Empathy’s budget. To maintain her current salary, Queen will have to fire incompetent tech, Alex Quest, two-faced Administrator Maxine Ascerbity, passive/aggressive Program Director, Mitzy Binder, and mousy Research Analyst Felicity Dom. They’re invited into the Zoom meeting, during which, they reveal feelings of loathing for Ama. Her extreme response is a bleak and unexpected act of desperation.
