With the final piece of the puzzle now firmly in place, we’ve come to the end of an era in EDM now that it looks like the team behind Marshmello has given up the game. In a long-form feature from Forbes, they revealed that the ASCAP database officially has Chris Comstock listed as a writer of Marshmello’s latest record “Silence” with Khalid.
Chris Comstock is, of course, the man behind Dotcom. That fact was never a secret, but his identity as the man behind the Marshmello project has been an unspoken truth for the last year or so; nevertheless, this final official ‘reveal’ should serve as closure to most.
This isn’t even the first time that Comstock’s name has appeared on an ASCAP listing, previously appearing in the credits for Marshmello’s collaboration with Far East Movement, “Freal Luv.”
Whether the decision is a concerted effort from management, or even Marshmello himself, is certainly up for debate. But either way, EDM fans can still expect Chris to don the all-white outfit and mask for his performances to come.
