/r/electronicmusic Best of 2018 Revealed, Jon Hopkins Sweeps Major Categories

/r/electronicmusic has finally revealed its Best of 2018 Awards, as voted on by the community.

Last year was an amazing year for electronic music. While every music source seems to have their own opinion of the best of the best, there has certainly been some crossover with the results. For instance, see our list of top albums here.

According to /r/electronicmusic, Jon Hopkins is the artist of the year, followed by Koan Sound and then SOPHIE (all of whom dropped albums in 2018). Song of the year also goes to Jon Hopkins for his track “Emerald Rush,” followed by RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s “Underwater” and DJ Koze‘s “Pick Up.” Album of the year goes to — you guessed it — Jon Hopkins for Singularity, followed by Koan Sound’s Polychrome and G JonesThe Ineffable Truth.

While Jon Hopkins sweeps the major categories, there’s still much variety on the list. Rezz1788-L, Aphex Twin, Disclosure, Mat Zo, Odesza, Virtual Self, Rob Swire, RL Grime and more appear on the Best of 2018 Awards list.

Biggest Letdown is a category we haven’t seen much in these recaps. It’s no surprise that Datsik takes the cake. He’s followed by “no Madeon album in 2018” and “no Skrillex album in 2018” — both of those could change in 2019.

See the rest of the results below.
