REPORT: Over 30 People Treated For ODs Following Multiple Weekend Festivals in Australia

More devastating news out of Australia, as over 30 people have been treated in the hospital after a weekend of music festivals in Sydney and regional Victoria. According to a report, one man is on life support and dozens more have been treated after the suspected overdoses.

Three music festivals took place in Sydney on Saturday and Sunday. At least 25 of the people who received treatment were between ages 16 and 25.

Six people suffered from suspected overdoses after attending Rainbow Serpent festival. However, the majority of overdoses came out of the Hardcore Til I Die event at Homebush.

State government sent on-site medial teams to Hardcore Til I Die, Rolling Loud and Electric Gardens to treat critical patients on site. It’s believed that some revelers may have not survived had it not been for the increased medical staff and safety measures put in place.

Drug offenses were also common at the events. Seven people were accused of supplying and 16 others were charged with drug possession at Hardcore Til I Die. A total of 30 attendees were ejected for intoxication.

A whopping 55 people were charged with drug possession at Electric Gardens. One was accused of drug supply.

The NSW premier, Gladys Berejiklian, said she “hoped and prayed” people were getting the message to not do drugs.

The public outcry for on-site drug testing pushes on in the wake of these overdoses.
