Facebook’s Group Video Chat App Discovered on Denmark iOS App Store

While apps such as FaceTime and Facebook’s Messenger app let users video chat their friends and family, a group video chat app on mobile devices has yet to be universally adopted. Some apps such as Houseparty have attempted to address the need for a mobile group video chat app, but no app has been as widely adopted as an app like FaceTime.

Facebook announced its own group video chat app in July, and it looks like some eagle eyed users over at The Next Web have discovered the new app on the Denmark iOS App Store. Fittingly named Bonfire, Facebook’s new app incorporates Facebook Messenger’s Snapchat-esque filters and effects that can be shared directly through the Messenger app, Facebook and Instagram. The report from The Next Web also cites info from Adam Blacker of Apptopia indicating users have downloaded Bonfire approximately 2,000 times, and Facebook commented to The Next Web saying they are running a small test for Bonfire in Denmark.

It remains to be seen how Facebook rolls out Bonfire, but this could very well turn out to be the “killer app” (no pun intended) for group video chat apps.
