Hospitalized Road To Ultra Hong Kong Attendees Tested Positive for Drugs

Over the weekend, we learned one person had died, and three others remained in critical condition after collapsing at the Ultra Music Festival stop in Hong Kong.

Now, it’s been determined that the three Road to Ultra attendees admitted to the hospital tested positive for controlled drugs. Whether the said substances were party or prescribed drugs has yet to be released.

The four victims, all from Hong Kong, fell sick at different times throughout the day. Police investigators said no illegal drugs were found on their persons. Heatstroke was also thought to be a factor early on.

One of the four, 27-year-old Chow Wai-ho, died Saturday night, while the others were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei. The 21-year-old woman still in the hospital reportedly suffers from an underlying heart issue. Two other men, ages 22 and 29 also remain hospitalized.

According to Duncan Pescod, CEO of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, 100 security officials were hired by the event and festival goers underwent security checks upon entry.

There were reportedly three first aid stations on site at the Road to Ultra event.
